With 14,000 fans looking on, Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Billy Bolt had another outstanding performance at round four of the 2026 FIM SuperEnduro World Championship in Budapest, Hungary, on January 31. After topping SuperPole and winning all three Prestige-class races on his FE 350, the defending champion maintained his undefeated streak and increased his lead in the championship standings.

Qualifying safely as the second fastest for the all-important SuperPole shootout, Bolt delivered a mistake-free ride on the flowing Budapest track to secure pole position over GasGas rider Mitch Brightmore by over half a second. The result earned him three championship points and first gate pick for the evening’s finals. Triumph’s Jonny Walker placed third.
A strong start in race one saw Bolt round the first corner in third place. However, a tangle with another rider in the rock section dropped him to fifth. From there, Bolt delivered a sensational comeback ride, carving his way through the field to take the lead on the penultimate lap. Staying composed under pressure, he held firm to secure his first win of the night ahead of Stark Varg-mounted Toby Martyn and Brightmore. Martyn was in a great position to get his maiden win, maintaining a large 10-second lead over Bolt when he went down two laps from the end. However, a second was still a career best for the former TrialGP star from Great Britain.
Starting from the second row for the reverse-grid race two, Billy bided his time through the opening corners, carefully avoiding early drama. Wasting no time in finding his rhythm, he surged into the lead by the end of lap one. From there, the reigning World Champion was untouchable, extending his advantage with a composed and clinical ride. Crossing the line over nine seconds clear of his nearest rival, Brightmore, Bolt made it two wins from two. Walker was third.
A strong start in race three saw Bolt take control early on, looking set to sign off the evening with another dominant ride. However, a small mistake in the rocks allowed Brightmore to slip past and take the lead. Regrouping quickly, Bolt kept his composure and steadily reeled in his rival, navigating traffic with precision before making a decisive pass to retake the lead. From there, the reigning champion remained focused to secure his third win of the night ahead of Brightmore and Walker.

“It’s been a great night here in Budapest, and as always, the fans have been amazing,” Bolt said. “The track had a nice flow to it, but honestly, I didn’t feel like I was the fastest guy out there today. So, to still come away with the overall win in those circumstances feels good. I managed to put myself in the right positions and kept the mistakes to a minimum. On a track like this, just having a clean night is a win in itself. Mitch was riding well, especially in that last race. He’s had great speed all day, so the battle was on. What can I say? Three wins, another perfect night—I’m definitely not complaining.”
American Cooper Abbott, riding an X-Grip-backed GasGas, had a strong night, finishing sixth overall, which included a fifth-place finish in the final race.
In the night’s overall standings, Bolt stood on top, with Brightmore and Walker going 2-3.
With victory in SuperPole and all three finals, Billy extended his lead at the top of the 2026 FIM SuperEnduro World Championship standings to 61 points over Walker, 249-188, with three rounds remaining. Brightmore is third on 169 points. Next up is round five of the series, the GP of Serbia, on February 21. CN
