KTM will expand its road-racing footprint in 2026 with an official entry into the Italian CIV Supersport 600 NG Championship, marking the competitive debut of its new 990 RC R platform. Although not homologated for our own MotoAmerica Supersport Series or WorldSSP in Europe, KTM will line up on the CIV grid beginning at Misano this April as it dips its toe in the racing waters with its all-new machine.

The project will be managed by Very Well Motorsport in cooperation with KTM’s Italian distributor and technical partner, Kramer. Piloting the machine will be 23-year-old Italian rider Jarno Ioverno, who arrives in the CIV paddock following a successful 2025 season that included a Supersport NG title in national competition.
KTM’s RC R race involvement is not limited to the CIV. The brand is also supporting a one-make 990 RC R Cup in Europe, aimed at providing privateer racers with a structured, competitive pathway while accelerating on-track development of the model.
The 2026 CIV season will offer the first clear indication of how the 990 RC R stacks up against established rivals—and how far KTM intends to push the project on the international stage.CN
