2026 Dakar Rally Results—Stage 13
It was all looking so promising for Ricky Brabec heading into the final stage of Dakar 2026. A short 108km special around Yanbu was all that stood between him a third career Dakar crown, and with over three minutes in hand, Brabec’s win over Luciano Benavides looked a formality.
That was until Brabec made a crucial navigation error just seven kilometers from the finish and lost his advantage.

The result was Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Luciano Benavides won the 2026 Dakar by two seconds after over 49 hours of competitive racing. It was the closest finish in the history of the event in any class. Luciano now joins brother Kevin as a Dakar winner; the elder Benavides having tasted Dakar success in 2021 and 2023.
2026 Dakar Rally Daily Podcast—Stage 13 Final
“I still can’t believe it,” Benavides said. “I never stopped dreaming. I woke up today full of energy and motivation, just thinking about what I could do and trusting in myself, and that was the key for this Dakar. I did this for myself, and this feeling is unreal. To win by just two seconds is unbelievable. I even missed the last two corners and nearly crashed, so it was right on the limit, but it paid off. I honestly can’t describe this moment. This is my ninth Dakar, and it shows that if you never stop dreaming, never stop believing, and keep fighting for your goals, anything is possible.”

The mistake saw Brabec plummet down to 10th on the stage behind winner Edgar Canet with Benavides taking second. Tosha Schareina took third on the stage.
The result has Luciano Benavides as the new Dakar king ahead of Brabec and Schareina, with Skyler Howes taking fourth ahead of the incredibly gritty Daniel Sanders, who rode the last three stages with a broken collarbone and cracked sternum.

In Rally2, Toni Mulec sealed a first-ever Dakar title for Bas World KTM with Preston Campbell taking second. The American was also named Rookie of The Rally for his efforts.

2026 Dakar Rally Results—Stage 12
Ricky Brabec’s tactical approach paid dividends on Stage 12 of the 2026 Dakar Rally, as the American took a crucial win and reclaimed the overall lead ahead of the final day’s racing.

After intentionally surrendering the rally lead to Luciano Benavides on Stage 11, Brabec started Stage 12 six minutes behind his Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rival, trailing by just 23 seconds overall.
The strategy proved effective, with Brabec winning the stage, his 13th career Dakar stage victory, and his second of this year’s event. The result not only erased the deficit but extended his advantage to 3:43s over Benavides, placing Brabec in the check mate position heading into the closing stage around Yanbu.
2026 Dakar Rally Daily Podcast—Stage 12
Benavides remains mathematically in contention, though the task ahead is significant. The Argentine will begin the final stage three minutes behind Brabec, with only 105 kilometers of special stage remaining. Complicating matters further, Brabec is expected to benefit from time bonuses awarded to riders opening the stage, narrowing Benavides’ margin for a potential comeback.
2026 Dakar Rally Daily Highlights—Stage 12
Further back, Skyler Howes and Adrien Van Beveren were among the early stage openers but were unable to match the pace of the leading duo. Both Monster Energy Honda HRC riders finished well down on the stage times, though Howes moved up to fourth overall after Daniel Sanders lost time while still managing to finish fifth on stage despite a broken collarbone and cracked sternum. Van Beveren was close behind in sixth, eight minutes adrift of the Australian.
In the Rally2 category, Tony Mulec continued to strengthen his overall position. After taking the class lead on the previous stage, Mulec extended his advantage on Stage 12 and now holds a 6:12s cushion over American Preston Campbell heading into the final day.

2026 Dakar Rally Results—Stage 11
Skyler Howes claimed his first Dakar Rally stage victory on Stage 11, becoming the ninth American rider to win a stage at the event. Competing in his eighth Dakar, the Utahn was quickest on the route to Al Henakiyah, a stage featuring terrain well suited to his background growing up in the rocky Utah and Colorado enclaves. While the result did not improve on his career-best overall finish of third in 2023 so far, Howes remains on track to end the rally just outside the podium positions.

The Monster Energy Honda HRC team employed a tactical approach among its leading riders during the stage. Adrien Van Beveren, opening the route, slowed after refueling to link up with teammate Ricky Brabec, allowing the pair to share the time bonuses awarded to early starters. Brabec later adjusted his pace toward the end of the stage, conceding the overall lead in order to secure a more favorable starting position behind Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Luciano Benavides for the following day.
2026 Dakar Rally Daily Podcast—Stage 11
As a result, Benavides now leads the overall standings by 23 seconds, but faces increased pressure heading into the decisive stage, with Brabec set to start six minutes behind him.
Daniel Sanders was able to complete the stage after injuring his shoulder the previous day, finishing with the 13th fastest time. The defending champion is not expected to play a supporting role in the final stages. Edgar Canet, who finished third on the stage, is positioned to start ahead of Benavides and could factor into the overall strategy.
2026 Dakar Rally Daily Highlights—Stage 11
Preston Campbell lost the lead in the Rally2 division by finishing fourth in the class behind winner Martim Ventura. Toni Mulec now takes over at the head of Rally2, 2:27s ahead of Campbell.

2026 Dakar Rally Results—Stage 10
Daniel Sanders’ bid to defend his Dakar Rally title suffered a major setback during the loop stage from Yanbu, despite the Australian entering the day as the overall leader. Sanders began the stage with more than a six-minute advantage over Ricky Brabec, but his rally unraveled after a crash 138 kilometers into the special. A broken left collarbone and suspected fractured sternum were the injuries suffered by the Australian and although the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider was able to continue to the finish, he lost close to 30 minutes, dropping him to fourth overall, 17:37 off the lead. In reality, though, Sanders’ Dakar is done and there won’t be a repeat of his 2025 race win.

Sanders’ misfortune was Ricky Brabec’s gain as the former two-time Dakar champion moved into the overall lead with his second-place finish on Stage 10. The American stopped to help the stricken Sanders but couldn’t overhaul his Honda teammate Adrien Van Beveren, who continued an up-and-down Dakar with his first victory of the event. The Monster Energy Honda HRC rider took the win on the route to Bisha, marking the seventh Dakar stage victory of his career. The result also moved Van Beveren up to sixth overall, where he sits roughly one hour behind the rally leader.
2026 Dakar Rally Daily Podcast—Stage 10
With Sanders’ time loss, KTM’s focus shifted to Luciano Benavides, who remains a contender for overall honors. Starting the stage ninth, the Argentine delivered a strong performance in third and now faces a close battle with Brabec, trailing by 56 seconds with three stages remaining.
In Rally2, Michael Docherty (KTM) continued his winning form to take the honors by 53 seconds over Toni Mulec (KTM) with Paolo Lucci (Honda) taking his first stage podium in third.
2026 Dakar Rally Daily Highlights—Stage 10
Preston Campbell (Honda) lost more time on the stage in sixth overall, the American’s class lead down from over 20 minutes on Stage 5 to 3:23 on Stage 10.

2026 Dakar Rally Results—Stage 9
The Dakar Rally’s marathon-refuge stage from Wadi ad Dawasir proved decisive, with navigational challenges reshaping the order among the leading contenders. Conditions and route complexity quickly caught out several front-runners, interrupting Luciano Benavides’ run at the top of the overall standings. The Argentine dropped 11:50s today and lost the race lead and now sits third, 07:05s behind Daniel Sanders.

Tosha Schareina emerged as the standout performer on the day, making a key navigational decision early in the stage by selecting the correct canyon while several rivals chose an alternate route. The Monster Energy Honda HRC rider built on that advantage late in the special, ultimately recording the fastest time. Schareina finished 4:35 ahead of Daniel Sanders and 6:22 seconds in front of Honda teammate Ricky Brabec.
2026 Dakar Rally Daily Podcast—Stage 9
Despite the stage win, Schareina remains fourth overall, though his deficit to the rally lead has been reduced to 15 minutes. A 10-minute penalty incurred on the opening marathon stage continues to weigh heavily on his overall position.
2026 Dakar Rally Daily Highlights—Stage 9
Sanders limited his losses during the stage and benefited from time conceded by others, allowing the defending champion to reclaim the overall lead. The Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider now holds a 6:24 advantage over Brabec.
2026 Dakar Rally Daily Highlights—Stage 9
That margin may be tested on the second leg of the marathon stage, however, with Brabec set to start three minutes behind Sanders on a route expected to feature demanding dune sections and further navigational challenges.

2026 Dakar Rally Results—Stage 8
Luciano Benavides continued his impressive form at the 2026 Dakar Rally by winning Stage 8 and moving into the overall lead after the longest special of this year’s event. The Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider delivered a near-flawless performance on the 483-kilometer test, collecting maximum time bonuses and securing his third stage win of the rally.

Starting the day with the responsibility of opening the route, Benavides handled the task with confidence, repeating a feat he demonstrated last year by winning while running first on the road. His strong solo ride earned him 7:28s in bonuses, which proved decisive in the overall standings. At the conclusion of the stage, the Argentinian moved to the top of the leaderboard, holding a slim 10-second advantage over teammate Daniel Sanders.
2026 Dakar Rally Daily Podcast—Stage 8
Sanders, who has been a central figure in the rally since the opening stages, posted the second-fastest time on the day and remains firmly in contention. Despite relinquishing the overall lead, the Australian’s small deficit ensures the fight for victory remains wide open as the rally heads into its final stretch.
2026 Dakar Rally Daily Highlights—Stage 8
Behind the KTM duo, Monster Energy Honda HRC’s Ricky Brabec continues to apply pressure. Brabec sits third overall, 4:47s behind Benavides, and remains a strategic threat as road positions and navigation play an increasingly important role. Tosha Schareina is fourth overall and, while now trailing by approximately 20 minutes, is not yet completely out of contention should circumstances shift in the coming stages.
In Rally2, the stage produced a shake-up following misfortune for Michael Docherty late in the special, likely due to a crash near the finish. The opening allowed Neels Theric to take his third Rally2 stage win of the rally aboard his Kove. Despite the stage result, the overall Rally2 lead remains with American Preston Campbell, though his advantage was trimmed by Toni Mulec, who now sits 9:36s back.

2026 Dakar Rally Results—Stage 7
Racing resumed today after the mid-point rest day and Luciano Benavides made the most of his opportunity on the run to Wadi Ad-Dawasir, charging to victory on the 459-kilometer special to claim his seventh career Dakar Rally stage win. Starting sixth on the road, the Argentinian KTM star capitalized on the fast, flowing terrain to stop the clock in just over four hours.

Benavides finished the stage with a margin of 4:47s over Red Bull KTM stalwart Edgar Canet, while Adrien Van Beveren (Honda) followed a further 10 seconds back in third. For Van Beveren, the result marked his strongest showing of the rally so far after a challenging opening half, however, the Frenchman is nearly an hour off the overall lead.
Despite the stage win, Benavides remains third overall, now just 15 seconds behind Ricky Brabec in the general classification.
2026 Dakar Rally Daily Podcast—Stage 7
At the top of the standings, Daniel Sanders continues to lead the rally after posting the third-fastest time on the stage. However, his road position could prove costly in the next leg. Sanders will open ahead of Brabec, who sits 4:25s back in the overall standings but is set to start deeper in the field, a scenario that could play to the Monster Energy Honda HRC rider’s strengths as the rally progresses.
Red Bull KTM Factory Racing maintains control of the overall lead, though the contest remains far from settled. Tosha Schareina lost time during the stage after being tasked with opening the route early on. While the Spaniard collected time bonuses for his efforts, he ultimately dropped time to the front runners and now trails the leader by just over 15 minutes.
In Rally2, Michael Docherty continued to impress against the RallyGP field. The KTM-mounted rider finished fifth overall on the stage while also securing his fifth class win of the rally. The result offered some consolation after the earlier marathon stage significantly damaged his overall Rally2 ambitions.
Preston Campbell continues to lead the Rally2 class but his lead has been whittled down to 11:07 ahead of Toni Mulec after the Californian finished fifth in the class today compared to Mulec’s second.

2026 Dakar Rally Results—Stage 6
Ricky Brabec took his first stage win of the 2026 Dakar Rally today as the Californian pulled back a little precious time on race leader and perennial rival Daniel Sanders.

Sanders delivered a strong ride on the first major sand stage enroute to Riyadh ahead of the rally’s rest day, charging from a third-place start out of Hail to take control of the special. The defending champion quickly reeled in Nacho Cornejo and teammate Luciano Benavides, eventually riding on his own to the finish and collecting a significant share of the available time bonuses. The result allowed the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider to extend his advantage in the overall standings, though a lapse in concentration would prove costly. Sanders exceeded a speed-controlled zone during the stage and was later handed a six-minute penalty.
2026 Dakar Rally Daily Podcast—Stage 6
Despite being beaten on the stage, Ricky Brabec continued his steady run at the front of the rally. The Monster Energy Honda HRC rider claimed his 12th career Dakar stage win and reinforced his position as Sanders’ closest challenger. Brabec remains 45 seconds behind the overall leader, but stands out as the only RallyGP rider yet to make a significant mistake since the start in Yanbu.
2026 Dakar Rally Daily Podcast—Johnny Campbell
Tosha Schareina, who was penalized the previous day, was unable to fully recover despite a favorable starting position. While Sanders’ penalty limited the damage, Schareina heads into the rest day fourth overall, 11:56s behind Sanders and less than a minute adrift of Benavides in third.
2026 Dakar Rally Daily Highlights—Stage 6
In Rally2, Michael Docherty returned to action after breaking a front wheel on stage four. The sand specialist topped the class and finished an impressive fourth overall on the stage. Although earlier penalties ended his Rally2 title hopes, the South African remains focused on strong individual performances.
Preston Campbell still leads the Rally2 class, his lead whittled down to 16:42 after taking fourth today.

2026 Dakar Rally Results—Stage 5
Luciano Benavides delivered a strong performance at the Dakar Rally, setting the fastest time over the 356-kilometer special to record his first stage win of this year’s event. The Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider’s result moved him into the top three of the overall standings for the first time in his career, where he now sits 5:55s behind team leader Daniel Sanders.
Benavides has developed a reputation for producing timely results, and his latest stage victory followed a similar pattern to previous Dakar performances that saw him challenge near the front without extended time in the spotlight.

Sanders reclaimed the overall rally lead after posting the fourth-fastest time on the Stage, 5:50s behind Benavides. The reigning champion appears well positioned heading into the next stage, which will feature extensive dunes, with a favorable starting position that could play to his advantage.
Nacho Cornejo recorded his best result of the rally so far with a second-place finish aboard his Hero. Bradley Cox followed with a fourth-place result, matching his best Dakar stage finish across five appearances.
2026 Dakar Rally Daily Podcast—Stage 5
The day was mixed for the leading teams. KTM’s Edgar Canet suffered mechanical issues that cost significant time and ended his hopes of contending near the front. Monster Energy Honda HRC also faced setbacks, as Tosha Schareina received a 10-minute penalty for forgetting to leave the bivouac-refuge between the flags. This breach of the rules has dropped him off the provisional podium into fourth place and he will now have to make up a deficit of a dozen minutes on Sanders to be in with a shout for outright triumph.
2026 Dakar Rally Daily Highlights—Stage 5
Ricky Brabec continued his ultra consistent run with fifth on the stage, while Adrien Van Beveren lost more than 30 minutes following a mechanical incident early in the stage. Ross Branch also endured a difficult day and now trails Sanders by 1:23:53 in the overall. Skyler Howes had a tough day in 15th on the stage.
It was another excellent stage for Dakar rookie, Preston Campbell in the Rally2 class. The Californian finished third on the day behind France’s Neels Theric, who took his second career Dakar class stage win and second for Chinese manufacturer Kove, with Konrad Dabrowski having a good ride into second.
Campbell now heads into Stage 6 with a healthy 20:18s lead over Dabrowski with Toni Mulec in third. Campbell now lies ninth overall.

2026 Dakar Rally Results—Stage 4
Tosha Schareina (Honda) claimed back-to-back stage victories at the Dakar Rally, delivering a strong performance to secure his fourth stage win of the event. The Monster Energy Honda HRC rider ran at the front for roughly half of the 417-kilometer special, a demanding task in Dakar racing, and emerged as the stage winner for the second consecutive day.

With the result, Schareina moved into the overall lead, though the margin remains razor thin. HRC teammate Ricky Brabec, incredibly, sits level on time after 16 hour of racing, with Schareina holding the top spot based on his superior stage result. Skyler Howes completed a 1-2-3 result for Honda, finishing just 10 seconds behind the leaders and highlighting the strength of the Japanese manufacturer in the early stages of the rally.

Adrien Van Beveren (Honda) lost additional time and now finds himself outside the top 10 overall, trailing Schareina by 27:24s. Red Bull KTM Factory Racing remains within striking distance, with taking Daniel Sanders fifth overall on the stage, 2:37s back from Schareina, and Edgar Canet eighth, 3:49s adrift. Sanders sits just 1:24s behind the leaders and is expected to benefit from a favorable starting position in the fifth stage.
2026 Dakar Rally Daily Highlights—Stage 4
In Rally2, title contenders Michael Docherty (KTM) and Martim Ventura (KTM) both suffered major setbacks due to mechanical issues, promoting American Dakar rookie Preston Campbell (Honda) to the overall class lead. Neels Theric also made history by earning his first Dakar stage win and the first for Chinese manufacturer Kove.

2026 Dakar Rally Results—Stage 3
Honda got its first taste of Dakar glory in 2026 on Stage Three with a win by Tosha Schareina. The Spaniard, second last year and second in the W2RC season, topped the 421-kilometer special by 2:17s ahead of Monster Energy Honda teammate Ricky Brabec. Like Schareina, it was Brabec’s best result of the rally to date and continues his unbroken streak of 2026 Dakar stage podiums.

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Daniel Sanders took third on the stage and continues to lead the overall by just over a minute, only this time he leads from Brabec with Schareina only six seconds behind his teammate in third.
The Dakar showed its teeth for the youngster who’s made some history in 2026 as the youngest stage winner in the race’s history, Edgar Canet. The Spaniard couldn’t hang with the leading trio on his Red Bull KTM, dropping to 8:46s behind Sanders as he crossed the Stage Three finish eighth and dropped to fourth in the overall.

2026 Dakar Rally Results—Stage 2
Defending champion Daniel Sanders wasted little time reasserting himself at the Dakar Rally, claiming victory on Stage 2 in AlUla to move back into control of the event. The Australian delivered a measured but authoritative ride aboard his KTM to secure his 10th career Dakar stage win, a milestone that places him among a select group of just 22 riders in the rally’s history to reach double figures.
After winning both the Prologue and Stage 1, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing teammate Edgar Canet was tasked with opening the route on Stage 2. The young Spaniard led for roughly the first 100 kilometers before a minor fall allowed Sanders to close the gap.

At the end of the 400-kilometer special, and once the bonuses for opening the stage were applied, Sanders held a 1m35s advantage over Canet. The result also elevated Sanders to the top of the overall standings, where he now leads by 30 seconds.
Third overall after a trio of third places on the Prologue and Stages One and Two is former two-time Dakar winner, Ricky Brabec (Monster Energy Honda HRC). Starting Stage Two in third on the track, Brabec quickly capitalized on not being the lead rider, setting the fastest time at the opening checkpoint on the 504 km route that crossed the rugged Hejaz Mountains along the eastern edge of the Red Sea.
As the course opened out across the fast sandy plains of the Medina Province, Brabec recorded the fastest stage time outright, but time bonuses earned by Sanders and Canet ultimately dropped him to third on the day, 1:46 down. Californian Brabec retains third overall, now 2:18 off the lead.
It was a good day for Skyler Howes on the second factory Honda, the Utahn 3m15s off Sanders’ pace.
2026 Dakar Rally Daily Podcast—Stage 2
The third factory Honda of Tosha Schareina was fifth and he continues to stay fourth in the overall, 4m41s back, followed by Ross Branch (Hero), seventh on Stage 2, is fifth overall, 7m46s seconds off the lead. However, rally hopeful Adrien Van Beveren (Honda) has already lost significant ground, taking 10th today for 10th overall by 14m9s.
Mason Klein (Hoto) finished Stage 2 in 14th and lies 26th overall, and rookie Preston Campbell continues his strong early run on the Monster Energy Honda by taking 15th on Stage 2 to sit 16th overall. Brandon Krause (KTM) came home 33rd on Stage 2 and lies 34th overall.
2026 Dakar Rally Daily Highlights—Stage 2
In Rally2, the class saw a breakthrough result as Honda claimed its first-ever stage win since the category’s introduction in 2022. Portuguese rookie Martim Ventura delivered the historic class victory with an exceptional sixth overall, although it was not enough to take over the overall Rally2 lead. That honor remains with KTM-mounted Michael Docherty, who continues to lead the class by 19 seconds from Ventura and Tobias Ebster (KTM) with Campbell up to fourth.

2026 Dakar Rally Results—Stage 1
Edgar Canet continued his impressive run at the Dakar Rally, backing up his prologue victory in Yanbu with a commanding performance on Stage 1. Making his debut in the RallyGP class, the young Spaniard and reigning Rally2 champion put in a polished ride aboard his Red Bull KTM to claim the stage win over teammate Daniel Sanders by 1m02s and extend his advantage in the overall standings to 1m05s.

For the second day in a row, the stage podium featured the same trio with Monster Energy Honda HRC’s Ricky Brabec a further 1m32s back in third, which means the American is now 1m37s behind the flying Spaniard in the overall.
Ross Branch set the fastest time over the 305-kilometer special, but a six-minute speeding penalty dropped the Hero rider out of contention for the stage victory and means he’s dropped to seventh in the overall.
